The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Back in the day true street racers would put their money and efforts into the engine and drivetrain, not caring much for a custom body. This car is a perfect example of what a lot of the gearhead's cars looked like. It ain't much to look at but when you stomped on the gas it went like a bat out of hell.
